Men's basketball team records pair of conference victories over the weekend, defeating Davis College and CIA to run winning streak to five

The Berkeley College New York men's basketball team picked up a pair of Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victories over the weekend, defeating Davis College by a score of 71-50 on Saturday afternoon before putting together a dominating performance in a 127-60 victory over Culinary Institute of America on Sunday.

With the pair of triumphs, the Knights have now won five consecutive games and are 5-1 on the 2015-2016 campaign (3-0 HVIAC). Davis College is 1-10 on the year (0-1 HVIAC), while Culinary Institute of America is 3-3 (0-3 in the conference).

In the Knights' win over Davis, veteran Stephon Jennings led the way by posting his fourth double-double, as the standout scored 14 points while connecting on six of his 10 attempts from the floor. He also snatched 13 rebounds – including eight on the offensive side – while collecting two assists.

A couple of newcomers also played a key role in Berkeley's victory, as Malik Brown played 22 minutes, adding 12 points, two rebounds and a pair of steals, and Johnnie Green scored 10 points, snatched five rebounds and recorded two steals.

Despite the loss for the Falcons, Spencer Bath scored a game-high 18 points while nailing four shots from downtown. He also connected on all four of his attempts from the charity stripe while grabbing five rebounds.

In the Knights' impressive win over the Steels of Culinary Institute of America, Berkeley raced out to a 12-0 lead in the opening 3:52 of the contest and never looked back. The Knights held a 52-23 lead at halftime, and used a 75-point second stanza to run away with the victory.

Keenan Langston led the way for Berkeley in the Knights' win over the Steels, as he scored a game-high of 22 points to go along with six steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Massiah Merritt connected on seven of his 11 attempts from the floor to finalize his day with 19 points, a game-high eight steals, six rebounds, and three assists, and Dayquan Seymour contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds as well. Following the successful weekend, Head Coach Chris Christiansen gave his thoughts.

"Anytime you take to the road for back-to-back games and come away with two victories, it's a positive," Christiansen said. "We have a very balanced team with many different contributors, and I feel as though the student-athletes believe in themselves and one another. We're 5-1 right now and undefeated in the conference, and we'll look to keep our winning streak going on Saturday."

Berkeley College will continue its season and look to extend its winning streak to six games on Saturday evening, as the Knights will take on Southern Maine Community College at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 6:30pm.
