The Berkeley College men's basketball team stayed unblemished on the 2016-2017 campaign, picking up a pair of victories this past weekend over Bryant & Stratton College (Virginia) and the Apprentice School. This past Saturday, the Knights defeated the Bobcats by a score of 76-70 before blowing out the Builders, 100-63 on Sunday. Berkeley College is now 6-0 on the season, and has won 30 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

In the Knights' six-point win over Bryant & Stratton College, it was Ricardo Ayuso pacing Berkeley, as he finished with a game-high 21 points while connecting on five shots from downtown. He also added five rebounds in the victory. Stephen Jennings well one rebound short of posting a double-double, as he recorded 12 points and snatched nine boards, and it was Dondre Simmons scoring 11 points and tallying three steals.

Despite the loss for the Bobcats, Jordan Forbes scored a team-best 17 points while collecting nine rebounds and tallying five assists. Additionally, Gerrard Simpkins scored 14 points, snatched five rebounds, and recorded three assists. Mike Gadson scored 10 points in a losing effort, as well.

The next day – in Berkeley College's convincing victory over the Apprentice School, Merritt nailed four shots from beyond-the-arc while finishing the game with 17 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Dondre Simmons and Stephon Jennings scored 15 points apiece, and first-year Knight Paul Johnson added 13 points off the bench.

In a losing effort for the Builders, it was Zach Johnson scoring a game-high 12 points while collecting four rebounds. Taaron White added 11 points and three steals, and Willie Bass and Sam Morris contributed seven points apiece.

The Knights will look to make it 31 consecutive program victories in a row on Thursday, as Berkeley College will play its home-opener against Florida National at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
