Men's basketball team will enter 2016-2017 Division II USCAA National Men's Basketball Tournament as No. 1 overall seed

The USCAA announced its selections for the 2016-2017 USCAA Division II National Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday evening, and Berkeley College's men's basketball team learned that it will be the No. 1 overall seed when it begins its quest for a third consecutive National title. The tournament begins on Wednesday, March 1, and will be hosted by Penn State Fayette. All games will take place in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

The Knights (26-0 Overall) – who won the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title this past weekend by defeating SUNY-ESF and the College of New Rochelle – have won a program record 50 consecutive contests – a streak that serves as the institution's longest – in any year, and in any sport. Berkeley College will play on Thursday, March 2 at 5:30pm, when the Knights take on the winner of Wednesday's play-in match-up between No. 8 seeded Villa Maria and No. 9 seeded Andrews University. Knights Head Coach Chris Christiansen spoke about his team's mindset as it prepares to compete on the grandest of stages once again.

"Our team has put together a historically-successful season, and to see these student-athletes get rewarded with a chance to compete for another USCAA National title, it's extremely gratifying," Christiansen said. "I'm excited not only for the guys who experienced competing on the National stage last year, but also for the individuals who joined our team this past summer. I am very proud of what this team has been able to accomplish thus far, and I cannot say enough positive things about the work ethic and determination of these student-athletes. I feel that we are ready for the challenge of taking on some of the best teams that the USCAA has to offer."
