The Berkeley College men's basketball team has certainly garnered its fair share of media coverage since winning its third consecutive USCAA Division II National Men's Basketball title back on Saturday, March 5 of this month. The Knights – who defeated Penn State York by a score of 80-76 in overtime – have won 53 consecutive contests. Although the team has not lost a game since November 13, 2015, and has developed a winning culture over the past decade, the student-athletes and the coaches that serve as key pieces of the program have dealt with their share of challenges – on and off of the court.
CBS New York had an opportunity to speak with Head Coach Chris Christiansen, as well as men's basketball players and seniors Jeffrey Mejia and Dondre Simmons about a variety of topics. The aforementioned gentlemen all express the impact that Berkeley College has had on their lives, and why the winning is that much more special based on where they started.
