Knights improve to 4-0 in calendar year 2019 by overwhelming Vaughn College 118-47 in HVIAC action

The Berkeley College men's basketball team stayed undefeated since the calendar flipped to 2019, last night defeating the Warriors of Vaughn College by a score of 118-47 in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. The game took place at the Elmcor Recreation Center in Corona, NY. With the triumph, the Knights are now 11-4 on the 2018-2019 campaign (2-0 in conference play), while Vaughn dipped to 4-5 on the season (1-1 HVIAC).

The Knights have dominated the Warriors since the start of the 2015-2016 campaign. Over the last four seasons, Berkeley is now 6-0 against Vaughn College, defeating the Warriors by an average of 39.6 points in those contests.

In last night's triumph, Berkeley was led by the outstanding play of Nicholas Cora, as he finished with a game-highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds on the evening. Brandon Lewis contributed 16 points and four assists, and Ricardo Ayuso knocked down four three-point baskets and finished with 15 points to along with five assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Finally, it was Darius Ward finalizing his evening with 15 points.

Despite the loss for Vaughn College, Rasheken Auser netted 16 points, while Kermalie McLearn added 15.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday afternoon, as Berkeley will play Villa Maria in a rematch of the 2017-2018 USCAA Division II championship game. The contest will take place at Baruch College, with a start-time of 1:00pm.
