Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly honors announced; Daquan Jackson, Daniella Wood once again tabbed as top rookies

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, November 11 through Sunday, November 17. Berkeley College represented well, as men's basketball's Daquan Jackson was tabbed as the conference's top rookie, and women's basketball's Daniella Wood was selected the Rookie of the Week.

Jackson, who was Rookie of the Week on November 5, continued the hot start to his collegiate career with a pair of double-doubles over a 1-1 week for the Knights. The Bronx native lifted Berkeley over Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, 83-78, with 16 points (7-11 FG), 14 rebounds, and a pair of blocks. He followed that effort with a 12-point (6-12 FG), 12-rebound performance in a 97-90 loss to a tough Penn State-Brandywine team.

As for Wood, she earned her second-straight Rookie of the Week award after leading Berkeley to a 58-53 triumph over Pratt Institute. The freshman forward registered a double-double in the win, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while also recording a pair of assists.

Both of Berkeley's basketball teams are back in action on Saturday. The women's squad will travel to Boston, MA to take on Fisher College at the Winsor School (2:00pm), while the men will travel to Takoma Park, Maryland for a meeting with USCAA Division I foe Washington Adventist (7:00pm).
