Knights dominate Bobcats, 65-49, to earn third consecutive victory

The Berkeley College men's basketball team won its third consecutive game this past Saturday, turning back the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse by a score of 65-49. The contest took place at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium in Upper Manhattan. With the victory, the Knights improved to a record of 7-7 on the 2023-2024 campaign.

In the win for Berkeley, Justyce Coleman led the way for the Knights, tying for the game-high of 16 points (7-12 FG) while also snatching a team-high 10 rebounds. The youngster also tallied two steals while swatting a pair of shots. Karanja Bright scored 10 points while collecting six rebounds, dishing four assists, and registering two steals, and Brandon Speller finalized his evening with even points (5-6 FT), eight rebounds, and two assists. Finally, it was Brian Fajardo contributing seven points on the evening.

Despite the loss for Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, Moses Hughes tied for the game-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds. His three steals were also a team-high. Chamarri Baskerville posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Darren Joyner finished with 12 points and a pair of caroms.

Neither team was very efficient from the floor, with Berkeley connecting on just 35.6 percent of its attempts (26-73), and the Bobcats earning a conversion rate of 29.3 percent (17-58). Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse held a 47-44 edge on the glass, but Berkeley piled 10 assists compared to four for the Bobcats. The Knights piled 18 steals compared to Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse's seven, and Berkeley won the turnover battle, committing 21 miscues compared to 30 for the visitors.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday afternoon, as Berkeley will take to the road to battle Regent University. Start-time for the game is scheduled for 4:00pm.
