Knights win fourth consecutive game, turning back Regent University, 85-75

The Berkeley College men's basketball team won its fourth consecutive contest on Saturday evening, turning back the Royals of Regent University by a score of 85-75 at Bayside Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. With the victory, the Knights improved to a mark of 8-7 on the season, the first time they've been over .500 since December 1 (3-2). Regent University dropped to 0-14 with the defeat.

Five players scored in double figures for Berkeley, including Brandon Speller, as he posted a team-high 14 points while tying for the game-high of six rebounds. He also added two assists while tallying two steals. Julio Wallace scored 13 points (6-7 FT) while adding two steals, and Karanja Bright finalized his evening with 12 points, four boards, and three steals. Finally, it was Brian Fajardo and Justyce Coleman scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Despite the loss for the Royals, Marion Brown played the entire 40 minutes, scoring 24 points while snatching 15 rebounds and registering three steals. Micah Eastman scored 14 points, dished a game-high five assists, collected four boards, and tallied two steals, and Darrin Clark and Joakim Marie-Joseph scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Both teams shot very well from the floor, with the Royals being slightly more efficient, connecting on 33 of their 66 attempts from the field (50 percent). Berkeley College earned a conversion rate of 49.2 percent for the evening (30-61). The Knights won the battle on the boards, snatching 33 rebounds to Regent's 31, and Berkeley won the turnover battle, committing 21 miscues while the Royals had 25. Regent did record 21 assists to the Knights' nine.

Berkeley will look to make it five consecutive victories on Wednesday evening, as the Knights will travel to the Huskies' Health and Athletic Center in Pottersville, NY to battle HVIAC foe Word of Life. Start-time is scheduled for 5:00pm.
