Kangeroos score five second-half goals to pull away from New York men's soccer team

The Berkeley College of New York men's soccer team dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Kangeroos of SUNY Canton by a score of 5-0 in a contest played at the CSI Soccer Complex in Staten Island, NY. With the victory, SUNY Canton improved to 6-3 on the year, while the Knights dipped to 0-2.

After neither team was able to net a goal in the opening session, SUNY Canton lit up the scoreboard in the second half to pick up a convincing five-goal victory. The Kangeroos' Nick Escalante took over the game, netting goals at the 52:05, 58:05, 61:44, 67:50, and 77:33 marks. Five different Kangeroos picked up assists on those goals, including Tyler Gallagher, Devin Gruneisen, Prince Adu, Gyamfi, Randy Mayer, and Maurizio Paniconi.

Kangeroo netminder Patrick Anunziatta did not face a shot in picking up the shutout. The Knights were able to manage four shots on the afternoon, but none on net.

SUNY Canton out-shot Berkeley College by a count of 21-4. Each team had six corner kicks, and the Knights were whistled for 14 fouls compared to 11 for the Kangeroos.

Berkeley will return to action Monday evening as the Knights play host to CCNY on Monday evening at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
