CCNY gets goals from four different players as Beavers silence New York men's soccer team, 4-0

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team dropped its fifth consecutive contest on Monday evening, falling to the Beavers of the City College of New York by a score of 4-0 at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the victory, CCNY improved its record to 4-7 on the 2014 campaign, while Berkeley dipped to 4-7.

After the teams battled for 25 scoreless minutes, the Beavers broke through for the first goal when Felipe Maidana blasted a ball past Renzo Loaiza to give his team a 1-0 advantage. Edwards Ames and Stephanos Hondrakis picked up assists on that goal. A little over four minutes later, Maidana struck again, tallying his second goal of the game to increase CCNY's edge to 2-0. At the half, the Knights found themselves trailing by a pair of goals.

In the second half, the Beavers added two more goals – one by Cesar Bullon (at 74:19) and another by Lanfia Diaby (at 81:07). Berkeley College was unable to muster much of an offensive attack against a stingy CCNY defense, as the Knights registered just two shots in the second session (and six shots for the game overall).

Beavers netminder Maxwell Berkow had an easy day at the office in recording a shutout, as he faced just two shots and stopped them both.

CCNY out-shot Berkeley College by a count of 17-6 overall, and the team had two corner kicks apiece. The Beavers were whistled for 14 fouls compared to nine for the Knights.

The Knights will look to bounced back Wednesday afternoon as Berkeley College will battle the Warriors of Vaughn College in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. Start-time is scheduled for 3:30pm.
