Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team's win streak halted at seven as Cabrini turns back Knights, 4-1

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team had its seven-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon, as the Knights fell to the Cavaliers of Cabrini College by a score of 4-1 in a match played at Edith Robb Dixon Field in Radnor, PA. With the victory, the Cavaliers improved to a mark of 10-7 on the 2014 campaign, while the Knights' loss dropped them to 10-7.

Cabrini jumped out to an early lead in the eighth minute of the game, as a pass from Ryan New found A.J. Bishop who headed the ball into the net to give his team a 1-0 advantage. That would be the lone goal scored in the opening session, as the Cavaliers held a slim one-goal edge after one half.

In the second half, Cabrini increased its lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute when Christian Martin slipped a pass to Channing Shiffert who beat Berkeley College netminder Jonathan Pena-Ortiz. The Cavaliers would add two more goals from there - an unassisted tally from Bishop at 64:38, and another by Fernando Sommo (from John Underwood at 82:32) to increase their advantage to 4-0.

Berkeley College was able to avoid the shutout, as Pedro Dos Santos netted a goal at 87:52 to make it a 4-1 game. Standout Juan Faciolince picked up an assist on the score. That goal turned out to be the final tally of the contest, as the Cavaliers held on for a 4-1 victory.

Cabrini netminder CJ Serratore picked up the victory in goal, as he played 83:49 and didn't allow a goal while making 10 saves. Reserve netminder Chase Rodriguez played the final 6:11 and didn't recorded any saves while allowing the one goal.

The Cavaliers out-shot Berkeley College by a count of 22-15.

Berkeley College will play its season finale this Saturday evening, as the Knights will battle Washington Adventist at Harvey Field in Kearny, NJ. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:30pm.
