Moravian uses pair of second half goals to push past New Jersey men's soccer, 2-1 on day two of Rowan's Gilmore Alumni Classic

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team suffered its second tough loss in as many days, falling to the Hounds of Moravian College by a score of 2-1 on day two of Rowan University's Gilmore Alumni Classic in Glassboro, NJ. With the defeat, the Knights dipped to 1-4 on the 2015 campaign, while Moravian improved to 4-1.

Berkeley scored on its first shot of the match in the fifth minute when John Grant notched an unassisted goal in the fifth minute (4:21) to put the Knights up 1-0. It was the second goal for Grant in as many days, as he also recorded the game-tying goal late in Saturday's match against Wesley College. Moravian netminer Brian Boland was perfect from there on out, as he didn't allow another goal the rest of the way while stopping the only other shot the Knights would register in the match in the 69th minute.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of Berkeley until the 58th minute, when the Hounds' Brett Harder would tie the game at a goal apiece (at 57:52), as he headed a ball into the right side of the net off of a pass from the left side of the field from teammate Shane Harder. Moravian would push ahead in the game for good in the 75th minute when Connor Phillips would convert on a penalty kick opportunity to put the Hounds up 2-1. That turned out to be the final goal scored by either team in the contest. Following the game, Berkeley College Head Coach Bruno Ferriera gave his thoughts.

"Obviously, we had a tremendous opportunity to win at least one of these games this weekend, but the truth is we felt we could have won both, and to come away without a victory is definitely difficult for us to accept," Ferreira said. "We'll use the next five days to regroup before taking on FDU-Florham on Saturday."

Moravian held a significant edge in the shots department, registering 13 on the day compared to just two for the Knights. The Hounds also had four corner kick opportunities on the day, while Berkeley had one.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday evening, as Berkeley will take on the FDU-Florham Devils at Robert T. Shields Field in Madison, NJ. Start-time for that match is scheduled for 5:00pm.
