New Jersey men's soccer team registers 14 shots, unable to record a goal in 2-0 defeat at the hands of Ramapo College

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team dropped its fourth straight game on Monday afternoon, falling to the Roadrunners of Ramapo College by a score of 2-0 in a game played on Ramapo's Athletic Center turf in Mahwah, NJ. With the loss, the Knights fell to 1-6 on the 2015 campaign, while the Roadrunners improved their record to 4-3-1.

It was the Ryan Campbell show for Ramapo College in the Roadrunners' victory on Monday afternoon, as the freshman forward netted a pair of goals 61 seconds apart in the opening session to propel his team to a win. The first of those two scores came at the 27:36 mark, with Campbell slipping a ball past Knights netminder Nicholas Arajuo to put his team up 1-0.

Just over a minute later, Campbell struck again, this time receiving a pass from teammate Edward Franzoni and burying the ball into the net to give Ramapo a two-goal cushion. The Roadrunners would use a stellar defensive effort and seven saves from goalkeeper Matthew Hernandez to preserve their lead. Following the loss, Berkeley College Head Coach Bruno Ferreira gave his thoughts.

"You have to give Ramapo College its due – they built a quick 2-0 lead midway through the first half and they were able to protect that lead for over 60 minutes and keep us off the scoreboard," Ferreira said. "We have to be better. We have to prove in the final 11 games of this season that we are a better team than we've shown. I'm confident that this group can put it together. I have faith in my guys."

Ramapo College held a 25-14 edge in the shots category, and the teams recorded five corner kicks apiece. The Knights were whistled for off-sides three times compared to twice for the Roadrunners.

Berkeley College will return to action on Wednesday evening, as the Knights will travel to Glassboro, NJ to face Rowan University. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 5:00pm.
