New Jersey men's soccer team falls in season finale as Lancaster Bible blanks Knights, 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team finalized its 2015 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Chargers of Lancaster Bible by a score of 3-0 in a contest played at Charger Field. With the loss, the Knights finalized their season at 4-13, while Lancaster Bible improved its record to an impressive 10-3-3.

The opening 26 minutes of the match yielded few scoring opportunities for both sides, but the Chargers took over from there. In the 27th minute (at 26:19), Josiah Goff tapped a pass over to Edward Bills who cut into the box and drilled the ball into the net to put Lancaster Bible ahead by a score of 1-0. Just 4:45 later, the Chargers increased their edge to a pair of goals when Mason Bard crossed the ball into the box – and off of a deflection – Bills slashed the ball into an open net.

Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Thiago Nague made one of his two saves late in the first half to keep the score 2-0 and the Chargers' offense took it from there in the second half as they fired 10 shots in the second half, including five in the first 14 minutes of the half.

With less than 14 minutes remaining in the game, Lancaster Bible 's Caleb Nelson made it 3-0 in favor of the Chargers when he collected a tap pass from Alex Vocature and placed the ball into the goal. That tally ended any chance of a potential Berkeley College comeback.

Lancaster Bible outshot the Knights, 19-6 and the Chargers fired 10 shots on goal...Each team had five corner kicks. Additionally, Lancaster Bible's Thiago Nague made two saves to earn his first career win and shutout.

Despite the loss, Berkeley College's New Jersey soccer team did have some positives on the 2015 season, including a breakout campaign from first-year standout John Grant, who finished the season with 15 games played, 10 goals, and 21 points. Additionally, veteran Juan Faciolince performed well in his senior season, playing in 13 contests and recording 11 team points (five assists and three goals). The Knights will look to have a bounce-back season when the 2016 campaign kicks-off in early September.
