Knights win sixth consecutive contest in thrilling fashion, defeating Keystone College by a score of 4-3 Thursday evening in La Plume, PA

Standout Matthew Neto scored a goal 5:44 into overtime to lift the Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer time to a thrilling victory over the Keystone College Giants by a score of 4-3 on Thursday evening. With the victory, the Knights won their sixth consecutive game and improved to 6-1 on the year, while Keystone College fell to 2-3-1 on the 2016 campaign.

Berkeley opened the scoring in the 24th minute as newcomer Calvin Carbajal scored on a shot to the far post from the top of the right side of the 18-yard box. Luiz Martins and Neto picked up assists on the goal. The Knights would preserve that slim lead over the ensuing 21 minutes of the session – and headed to the locker room at halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

The Giants had a multitude of opportunities during the early stages of the second stanza, but it was Berkeley College breaking through for another goal in the 56th minute. Neto broke free down the left side, and eventually swung a ball over to Eryk Rachwal who knocked the ball home to give the Knights a 2-0 edge.

Keystone cut Berkeley's lead in half the 62nd minute on a Haris Sabovic tally. Kouassi Kouadio started the play with a long run down the left flank, eventually feeding a ball to Sabovic in the center of the goal area where he slipped a shot inside the left goal post to make it 2-1 in favor of the Knights. Nine minutes later – the Knights' Anthony Hernandez would give Berkeley its two-goal advantage back when he netted a goal on a free kick into the upper corner of the net.

The Giants wouldn't go away, however, as Keystone College would pull to within one again just four minutes later when Angel Perez scored off of a Jordan Vance throw-in. At that point, the Knights held just a 3-2 edge. Keystone's Kouadio would then tie the game at three goals apiece with just 4:11 left in the second session by swinging a shot past Berkeley goalkeeper Robert Parker. Neither team broke the tie in the final stages of regulation, as the match headed to overtime.

Six minutes into the extra session, Neto ended the classic contest ripping a shot from 30 yards out that hit the bottom of the crossbar before entering the net to give Berkeley the exhilarating victory.

Keystone held a 22-17 advantage in shots for the game including an 11-8 edge in shots on goal while the Knights had eight corner kick opportunities compared to just a pair for the Giants. The Knights' Parker made eight saves to pick up the win in goal for Berkeley while the Giants' Malcolm Moreira made four saves in a losing effort.

The Knights will look to make it seven consecutive victories as they take to the road to battle Moravian. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 4:00pm.
