The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team split a pair of games this weekend, shutting out the Clippers of the University of Maine at Machias by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, before falling to the Bengals of the University of Maine at Fort Kent 7-0 on Sunday. With the 1-1 showing this weekend, the Knights are now 8-1 on the 2017 campaign.

In Saturday's shutout victory over the University of Maine at Machias, first-year Knight Shabthai Abellard provided all of the offense Berkeley College would need, as he netted two goals for his team – one in the 15^th minute – and the other in the 70^th minute – to pace his team to a win. James Ashun recorded an assist on the opening goal, while Lima picked up a helper on the latter score.

A day later – Berkeley was completely dominated by the Bengals, as the University of Maine at Fort Kent peppered six goals on the Knights in the opening session, before adding another goal in the second half to account for the seven-goal victory.

The University of Maine at Fort Kent scored less than two minutes into the game when Miguel Barnaby sent a ball that had been kicked around inside the box past Robert Parker to give his team a 1-0 edge. Rodney Witter and James Blanchett scored goals just 11 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 3-0 as the Bengals started to pull away.

Mark Parchment, Stefan Petricevic and Odean Irons all scored within ten minutes in the first half as the Bengals catapulted to a six-goal edge. Comar Pascoe added a goal in the second half for the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

The Bengals out-shot the Knights on the afternoon 22-4.

Berkeley College will return to action on Wednesday afternoon as the Knights will travel to Phoenixville, PA to battle the University of Valley Forge. Start-time for that contest is set for 4:00pm.
