The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team lost for the second time in three matches, this time to the Bulldogs of Dean College by a score of 5-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the defeat, the Knights dipped to 9-2 on the 2017 campaign, while the Bulldogs stayed unbeaten this season, improving to a mark of 7-0-1.

In what was a rematch of a contest played between the two teams at the 2016 USCAA Division II National Men's Soccer Tournament, today's meeting was relatively close in the opening session, with only one goal being recorded courtesy of Dean College. At the 35:45 mark of the first half, Felipe Campos would find the back of the net, blasting a shot past Berkeley College netminder Robert Parker to give his team a 1-0 advantage.

The Bulldogs would do most of their damage in the second half, as Dean College peppered the Knights' net with shots, scoring multiple times in the process. Within a span of 4:01, the Bulldogs' Cristiano Martins would score a pair of unassisted goals – one at the 53:27 mark – and another at 57:28. Just a short time thereafter, Dean's Yuri Mascarenhas would record a goal (at 59:05) to push his team's edge to 4-0. The Bulldogs' final tally came at the 81:59 mark when Marco Botelho would find Cody DaCruz, who would blast the ball high into the net to make it 5-0 Dean.

The Bulldogs were also solid defensively in this one, allowing just seven shots by the Knights – including only four on goal. Dean goaltender Nathan Silveira earned the shutout, stopping four shots in the process, while the Knights' Parker took the rare loss in net, allowing five goals and stopping four shots.

Berkeley College will look to bounce back Wednesday afternoon as the Knights will travel to Morristown, NJ to battle the Golden Eagles of the College of St. Elizabeth. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 3:00pm.
