Camara's hat trick paces New Jersey men's soccer team to convincing 6-1 victory over Golden Eagles Wednesday afternoon

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team bounced back from Sunday's loss to Dean College in a big way, defeating the Golden Eagles of the College of St. Elizabeth by a score of 6-1 in a contest that took place in Morristown, New Jersey. With the victory, the Knights improved their mark to 10-2 on the season, while the College of St. Elizabeth dipped to 1-9 on the year.

The Knights dominated this one from start to finish, and it all started with offensive standout Hassane Camara. The freshman forward scored a goal just 2:43 into the contest (after receiving a pass from James Ashun) to give his team to the early 1-0 lead. Just a short time later - at 14:23 - he notched an unassisted tally to catapult Berkeley to a 2-0 advantage.

Berkeley College would score one more goal in the opening session, and that came courtesy of veteran Kevin Soares, as his tally came at the 24:33 mark. The assist on the play went to none another than Camara, who crossed the ball right into the middle for Soares who put the ball away to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.

In the second stanza, the Knights received goals from Ashun (from Edgar Jurado at 56:12) and another from Camara (at 59:11) to grab a 5-0 lead. The College of St. Elizabeth would get on the board at 60:46 when Raul Galindo Rojas would find the back of the net (off of a pass from Kevin Canseco. That made it 5-1 in favor of Berkeley. The score would remain that way until the Knights put an exclamation point on their victory with a sixth and final goal, as Soares scored his second goal of the game off of a turnover from the Golden Eagles. That tally came at 85:00 in.

Wily Peralta earned the victory in net for the Knights, as he played all 90 minutes and just had to stop one shot. Jason Pineda took the defeat in net for the Golden Eagles, as he allowed six goals while making nine saves. Berkeley College out-shot the College of St. Elizabeth 29-6 on the afternoon.

Berkeley College will look to earn its 11th victory of the year on Friday afternoon, as the Knights will travel upstate to battle Bryant & Stratton (Syracuse). Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 1:00pm.
