Meshema Charles tabbed as Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Rookie of the Week

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its award winners for the prior of Monday, October 9 through Sunday, October 15 on Tuesday morning, and the Berkeley College New York men's soccer team was represented by Meshema Charles who was tabbed as Co-Rookie of the Week.

The first-year Knights standout earned the honor after his performance against conference foe Vaughn College this past Wednesday. In the match, the 5'9 forward score three goals, including the tying and winning tallies, to pace his team to a come-from-behind victory over the Warriors. Following the announcement of the award, Head Coach Stavros Zomopoulos spoke about the offensive ace.

"Meshema has played tremendously for us all season, and his contributions on the pitch have been invaluable for our team," Zomopoulos said. "He is one of seven players to start in every match, and his eight goals lead our group. He continues to learn and improve with each passing match, and we're looking forward to seeing him finish this 2017 campaign strong."

Berkeley College returns to action Wednesday afternoon, as the Knights will travel to Glen Cove, NY to take on Webb Institute in another Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. Berkeley will look to jump back into the win column after suffering its first loss in 28 days this past Saturday to the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy.
