Despite valiant effort, New York men's soccer team falls to USCAA National runners-up 2-0 at Alumni Memorial Field

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team put forth a tremendous effort on Saturday afternoon, giving last season's USCAA National runners-up all they could in a 2-0 defeat to the Bengals of the University of Maine at Fort Kent. The game took place at Alumni Memorial Field in Maine. With the loss, the Knights dipped to 1-1 on the 2018 campaign, while the Bengals improved to a mark of 3-1-1.

Berkeley followed-up its impressive 2-0 victory over Fisher College in the season opener with an equally strong showing against the Bengals, outplaying UMFK for a good portion of the contest. Neither team was able to find the net in the opening 53 minutes of action. In the 54th minute, Knights netminder Dario Cruz Sepulveda did everything except stand on his head, making three incredible saves to keep the game scoreless.

The Bengals were finally able to break through for a goal in the 58th minute, as UMFK's Carlos Arroyo would score off of a rebound of his own shot to give his team a 1-0 advantage. 19 minutes later, UMFK would add an insurance goal when Travar McCollah would score (unassisted) to give the Bengals a 2-0 edge.

The Knights will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon, as Berkeley will travel to Waterville, Maine to battle Thomas College. Start-time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
