New York men's soccer team registers 13 shots, but Knights unable to get anything going offensively as Thomas College prevails 2-0

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team failed to notch a goal for the second consecutive contest, getting shutout on Sunday afternoon, falling to Thomas College (Maine) by a score of 2-0. The game took place at Smith Field in Waterville, ME. With the defeat, the Knights slipped to 1-2 on the 2018 campaign, while the Terriers improved their mark on the year to 4-1.

Thomas' Justin Bell an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of action to give his team an early 1-0 advantage. The Terriers would increase their lead to 2-0 when Zenawi Bowen swung a pass up the field to Josh Emard, who zipped the ball across the goalmouth to Avian Girard who would head the ball into the net (57th minute).

The Terriers held a modest 18-13 edge in the shots category, and Thomas College had eight corner kick opportunities compared to three for Berkeley College.

Terrier netminder Jonathan Dutka only had to make two saves in front of a solid defense to earn the shutout. On the flip side, Knights goalkeeper Dario Cruz Sepulveda allowed two goals while stopping three shots.

Berkeley College will attempt to snap its two-match losing streak on Wednesday evening, as the Knights will head to Reinhart Field in the Bronx to battle SUNY Maritime. Start-time is scheduled for 5:00pm.
