Meshema Charles scored the game-winning goal with 41 seconds remaining, and the Berkeley College New York men's soccer team recorded a thrilling victory on Monday afternoon, turning back the Pacers of Marywood University by a score of 4-3 in Scranton, PA. With the win, the Knights improved to a mark of 2-4 on the 2018 campaign, while the Pacers dipped to 1-6 on the season.

In what was a wild, yet thrilling triumph for Berkeley, the Knights put forth one of their most impressive performances of the season. It was a back-and-forth affair, with Marywood University lighting up the scoreboard first when Giovanni Amato headed a throw from Zac Lloyd into the back of the net to give his team a 1-0 advantage just 2:50 into the match. 5:08 later, Berkeley knotted the game at a goal apiece when Amadou Sy scored on a breakaway.

The Pacers re-took the lead at 22:32 when Lloyd buried a shot 15 yards from the goal to give his team a 2-1 edge. Tom Cuffari was credited with the assist on the goal. 6:04 later, at 28:36, the Knights would tie the score when Jean-Gardy Derineau would find the back of the net (assisted by Carlos Veliz). As the team broke for halftime, the game was tied at two apiece.

The Knights would a 3-2 advantage at 51:06 when Sy would score his second goal of the afternoon, slicing a shot into the top left corner of the net from 10 yards out. The score would remain 3-2 in favor of Berkeley College until the 83:46 mark of the contest, when Lloyd would score his second goal of the day for Marywood University, sneaking in a ball from eight yards out to knot the match at three-all.

Berkeley would score the dramatic go-ahead goal with 41 seconds remaining when Charles would collect a long ball pass from Anthony Mejia, zip past the defenders, and blast a shot into the net to put the Knights up 4-3. The Pacers were unable to add a potential equalizer in the waning moments, and Berkeley held on for a hard-earned one-goal win.

The Knights out-shot Marywood University by a count of 18-15 on the afternoon. Each team attempted seven corner kicks.

Berkeley College will begin its Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference portion of the schedule on Wednesday evening, as the Knights travel to Aviator Field to battle The King's College (NY) Lions. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
