Joel Desire's goal turns about to be game-winner as USCAA No. 2 Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse edges New Jersey men's soccer team 1-0 in shortened match (darkness)

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team suffered a tough loss today, falling to the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse by a score of 1-0 in a match that was called just short of the 72nd minute mark due to darkness. The contest was played at the College of Staten Island in Willowbrook, NY. With the defeat, the Knights fell to 1-7 on the 2018 campaign, while the Bobcats stayed unblemished at 6-0.

Joel Desire's unassisted goal at 66:41 turned out to be the different maker for Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse on a day that saw a normally high-scoring Bobcats offense fail to impose its will until late. A little over five minutes after that aforementioned goal, the game was called, giving Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse the abbreviated victory.

Robert Parker played well in net for the Knights in front of an exceptional Berkeley College defense. Despite the loss, Parker made five saves, stopping a penalty kick opportunity in the process, and allowing the one goal.

Berkeley College will look to snap its two-match losing skid on Wednesday afternoon, as the Knights will take to the road to battle Valley Forge University. Start-time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
