New York men's soccer team dominates HVIAC awards as Jean-Gardy Derineau earns Player of the Week; Amadou Sy tabbed as top rookie

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards for the period of Monday, September 24 through Sunday, September 30 and the Berkeley College New York men's soccer team was well represented. Jean-Gardy Derineau earned the conference's Player of the Week honor, while Amadou Sy was tabbed as the HVIAC Rookie of the Week.

Derineau earned the conference's most prestigous honor this week by scoring three goals to help the Knights win three straight games over the past week. After netting a pair of tallies in a 4-3 victory over Marywood, the sophomore scored the game-winner in a 2-1 league win over The King's College (NY) at Aviator Field.

Sy earned Rookie of the Week recognition after he netted two goals in the Knights' 4-3 win over Marywood. He also tallied the game-winner in Berkeley's 2-0 triumph over SUNY ESF.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday evening, as Berkeley College will take on HVIAC foe New Rochelle. The contest takes place at Flowers Park and is scheduled for 8:00pm.
