The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, October 1 through Sunday October 7, and Berkeley College's men's soccer and men's cross country teams were well represented. Amadou Sy earned the conference's Rookie of the Week honor for men's soccer, while cross country's Jeremy Jimenez and Jared Gorgolione were named Runner of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Amadou Sy, who has been spectacular for the Knights this season with five goals and 14 shots-on-goal, earned his first conference award of the 2018 campaign. The freshman midfielder was tabbed as the HVIAC Rookie of the Week thanks to his extraordinary effort against New Rochelle and Clarks Summit University last week. Back on Wednesday, October 3, he netted a goal against the Blue Angels in the Knights' 4-3 overtime victory at Flowers Park. Then, this past Saturday, he notched Berkeley's lone goal, as the Knights played to a 1-1 tie with the defenders.

Berkeley's New York men's soccer team returns to action Wednesday evening with a match against Pratt Institute at Aviator Field. Start-time is scheduled for 6:30pm.

Jeremy Jimenez earned the conference's Runner of the Week award thanks to his strong effort at the NJIT Highlander Cross Country Challenge this past Saturday. In the 8K meet, the Bronx native led Berkeley to a 13th place finish out of 31 teams with a 27:12 8K time, good for 17th out 190 runners. His teammate, Jared Gorgolione, earned the Rookie of the Week distinction by finishing 41st out of 190 runners in that same aforementioned event with a time of 28:28.

The men's cross country team returns to the course on Sunday, October 14, as the Knights will participate in the Caldwell Cougar Chase. The 8K meet will begin at 11:00am.
