The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 10 matches on Monday afternoon, defeating the Giants of Keystone College by a score of 5-3 in La Plume, PA. With the victory, Berkeley improved to 10-4-1 on the year, while Keystone dipped to 10-4-1 on the 2018 campaign.

Berkeley scored in the early stages of the match, as Tcharly Verna netted a goal at the 3:06 mark (from a through-ball by Amadou Sy) to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage. Later, at the 32:15 mark, the Giants would tie the game at a goal apiece when Elmer Ramos would find the back of the net. Jarrett Nemeth picked up the assist on the play, as the goal came off of a deflection.

3:05 later, the Knights would re-take the lead when veteran Omario Rosen would score (from Jean-Gardy Derineau) to give Berkeley College a 2-1 lead. That would be the score after 45 minutes of action.

It only took the Knights 5:11 into the second session to increase their edge, as Gaetan Roody Derineau would receive a cross pass from Marcos Leon before burying the ball into the net. At that juncture of the contest, Berkeley held a 3-1 lead. Then, at 67:44, Jean-Gardy Derineau added a goal of his own, sprinting down the sideline and blasting a ball home to catapult Berkeley to a commanding 4-1 advantage.

Berkeley tacked on another goal at the 80:46 mark when Rosen notched his second tally of the match (from Gaetdan Roody Derineau) to give the Knights a 5-1 lead. Keystone would record a pair of late goals, as Chiemeka Okoro would find the back of the net (assisted by Sebastian Bonilla) at 88:38, and later Bonilla would score on a penalty shot with 17 seconds remaining.

Berkeley out-shot Keystone by a final total of 24-10 for the match.

The Knights will return to action this Saturday, as Berkeley College begins its quest for its first Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title since 2015. Berkeley is the No. 1 seed, and the Knights will face No. 4 College of New Rochelle in the tournament semifinals. The match will take place at Albany College of Pharmacy, with a start-time of 5:00pm. The winner of the Knights-Blue Angels match will advance to Sunday's championship match.
