Four New York men's soccer players earn HVIAC All-Conference recognition

Four New York men's soccer players earn HVIAC All-Conference recognition

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its year-end awards on Monday evening, and Berkeley College was well represented. The Knights' Jean-Gardy Derineau, Dario Cruz Sepulveda, Benjamin Elvenes, and Josue Jimenez were tabbed as All-Conference players. Following the announcement of the award winners, Berkeley College Head Coach Stavros Zomopoulos gave his thoughts.

"I am incredibly proud of Jean-Gardy, Dario, Benjamin, and Josue for earning this well-deserved recognition," Zomopoulos said. "Jean-Gardy is an extremely balanced player, and is by far one of the best, if not the best player in this conference. Dario is an exceptional goaltender who plays his heart out. Benjamin is the top defender in the HVIAC in my opinion, and Josue's performance this season has been extremely encouraging. They're all team-oriented, hard-working student-athletes. They deserve this praise."

The Knights will now await word on a possible at-large bid into the USCAA Division II National Men's Soccer Championship Tournament. The selection show will take place today  on www.theuscaa.com, at 5:30pm.

Regardless of whether the Knights qualify the National tournament or not, Berkeley College will have at least one more match this season, which will be a road contest against Yeshiva University on Sunday at Votee Park. Match-time is set for 8:30pm.
