Josue Jimenez, Dario Cruz Sepulveda, and Jean-Gardy Derineau recognized at USCAA banquet on Thursday evening

The USCAA announced its Division II men's soccer All-Americans on Wednesday evening at the 2018 USCAA Soccer National Tournament Banquet at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Berkeley College's New York men's soccer team was well represented, as a total of three of the institution's student-athletes were recognized, including a Second Team All-American selection and two All-American Honorable Mentions.

Josue Jimenez was tabbed as a Second Team All-American, while Jean-Gardy Derineau and Dario Cruz Sepulveda were announced as All-American Honorable Mentions. Following the announcement of the awards, Head Coach Stavros Zomopoulos gave his thoughts:

"I am incredibly proud of Jean-Gardy, Dario, and Josue for earning this well-deserved recognition," Zomopoulos said. "Jean-Gardy is an extremely balanced player, and is by far one of the best players in the National in Division II. Dario is an exceptional goaltender who plays his heart out, evidenced by the fact that he has stopped four out of five penalty shot kicks this season, and Josue's performance this season has been extremely encouraging. They're all team-oriented, hard-working student-athletes. They deserve this praise."

Josue earned Second Team All-American recognition thanks to his stellar defensive efforts for the Knights this season. The sophomore standout anchored a defense that allowed a total of just 30 goals in 17 contests this season. His teammate – Dario Cruz Sepulveda – was tabbed as an Honorable Mention following a stellar 2018 campaign in which he posted a GAA of just 1.63 while stopping four penalty kicks and earning two shutouts.

Jean-Gardy Derineau was an offensive force for the Knights this season, netting eight goals and recording four assists while registering 34 shots.

Berkeley College will be in the "B" pool, taking on NHTI on Friday, November 9, at 4:45pm, before battling the winner of the PSUAC (either Penn State Beaver or Penn State Brandywine) on Saturday, November 10, at 4:45pm. If the Knights are able to advance from the B pool, they will head to the title game on Monday afternoon, November 12 (4:00pm), where they will take on the winner of the "A" pool – either Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte, the King's College (NY), and SUNY-ESF.
