New York men's soccer team unable to muster offense in 1-0 defeat to Washington Adventist

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team dropped a tough match Sunday afternoon, falling to the Shock of Washington Adventist University by a score of 1-0. With the defeat, the Knights are now 1-1 on the 2019 campaign, while the game served as the Shock's season-opener.

After scoring three goals in the final 21:30 against Penn State Brandywine two days ago, the Knights were blanked in this one, unable to net a goal on 19 registered shots (eight on goal). Berkeley's recent success scoring goals on the road did not continue in this one, as the Knights were averaging 3.3 goals per game over their last eight contests away from home.

The lone tally of the game (the game-winner) was scored by Washington Adventist's Daniel Moreira, as he received a pass from his younger brother Thiago Morreira before burying the ball into the back of the net. That gave the Shock a 1-0 advantage, a lead Washington Adventist would not relinquish.

The Shock's Shawn McGuire recorded the shutout for this team, stopping six shots in the process.

Berkeley's standout netminder Dario Cruz-Sepulveda kept his team in the game, making seven saves on the afternoon despite allowing the one goal.

The Knights out-shot Washington Adventist by a slim margin of 19-17 on the day.

Berkeley will now have five days off before returning to action on Saturday, as the Knights will travel to La Plume, PA to battle Keystone College. Start-time for that game is 2:00pm. Those interested in following live stats for that contest can do so by accessing the link below:
