New York Men's Soccer's Amadou Sy, cross country's Jeremy Jimenez and Marcella Valencia earn HVIAC honors

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of October 7 through October 13 this past Tuesday, Berkeley College athletics was well represented. Amadou Sy represented the New York men's soccer team by being selected as the Player of the Week. Men's cross country's Jeremy Jimenez was tabbed as the Runner of the Week, and represented the women's cross country unit was Marcella Valencia, as she was selected the top runner on the female side.

With the announcement, Sy collected his third consecutive HVIAC Player of the Week distinction. After notching a goal in the Knights 4-3 loss to Utica College back on Wednesday, October 9, the standout registered a hat trick in Berkeley's 14-0 HVIAC victory over Culinary Institute back on Saturday, October 12. He currently leads both the USCAA and HVIAC in goals (19) and points (42),

Berkeley College's New York men's soccer team will wrap-up its regular season with a pair of HVIAC matches. The Knights will play two road contests, including a showdown with The King's College-NY (date and time are to-be-determined), and a late afternoon clash with Five Towns on October 23 (4:30pm).

Jimenez and Valencia earned HVIAC recognition by being the top runners for Berkeley in their respective genders at the Desales University Invitational this past Saturday. Jimenez, a Bronx, NY native, covered the course at the 8K event in 39:44. Valencia, a sophomore dasher from Clifton, NJ, crossed the tape at 32:35 in the women's 6K race.

The men's and women's cross country teams will resume their seasons this weekend on Saturday, October 19, as Berkeley will compete at the Fighting Tiger Invitational. The meets will begin at 11:00am.
