On March 15, 2021 the Berkeley College Department of Athletics promoted Jorge Martinez to the title of Interim Head Coach for the New York Men’s Soccer program. Prior to the promotion, Coach Martinez spent eight seasons with the team as an Assistant Coach and the past two as Associate Head Coach.


Director of Athletics, Andy DeStephano stated,” Jorge is dedicated to the college and our Student-Athletes. His knowledge and passionate for soccer, as well as, his determination to see our Student-Athletes succeed in the classroom makes him the right person for the position.”


Martinez has been influential in all aspects of the New York Men’s Soccer program and a great part of its success including: three conference championships, four national tournament berths, and one national championship. In his earlier days, Coach Martinez attended James Monroe High School and was a member of the Arcovalenos F.C., an Olympic Development Program (OPD) from the Bronx, New York. Martinez continued competing in the Italian Professional League with Perugia A.C. on the 2nd and 3rd squads.

Coach Martinez completed academic degrees from Globe Institute of Technology in Micro Computer Programming and Technical Careers Institute in Building Maintenance Technology. Martinez has furthered his skills as a professional adding certification as a Personal Trainer, CPR & First Aid, and licensing as a USSF Official.
