Men's tennis team's winning streak snapped as Dolphins silence Knights 9-0 at CSI Tennis Center

The Berkeley College New York men's tennis team had its two-match winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island by a score of 9-0 at the CSI Tennis Center in Willowbrook. The College of Staten Island improved to 7-3 on the 2015 campaign with the victory, while the Knights slipped to 2-2.

In doubles action, CSI's team of Chris Pinto and Raymond Hwang scored an 8-2 victory over Berkeley's combination of Herder Prisco and Thinh Nguyen at the No. 1 flight. One notch lower, the Dolphins' duo of Ed Ruffe and Austin Kapetanakis won their flight 8-0 over the Knights' pairing of Omar Durrani and Sebastien Rousseau. In the No. 3 position, CSI's Andrew Adia paired with Nolan Reese to push the Dolphins to an 8-3 victory over the Berkeley's team of Chubak Ulan and Alexander Maurmom.

When play turned the singles, the Dolphins won all six flights to account for the 9-0 final score. At the No. 1 flight, Ruffe turned back Nguyen, 6-0, 6-0. It was Chris Livoti defeating Durani, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, and Kapetanakis downed Pisco 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. The No. 4 singles flight saw Adia defeat Maurmom, 6-1, 6-0, and No. 5 featured Hwang defeating Rousseau, 6-0, 6-3. Finally, at No. 6 singles, Pinto cruised past Ulan, 6-1, 6-0. 

Berkeley will look to get back on track Sunday afternoon, as the Knights will take on the Bears of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 1:00pm.
