A message from new men's and women's head tennis coach, Jeff Menaker

As the new Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach at Berkeley, it is my privilege to lead the Knights this season. I am tremendously excited to be granted this opportunity. I look forward to working with members of the athletic department and institution staff to provide you with the resources you need to continue success on the tennis courts and in the classroom.

As my first official act as head coach, I'd like to schedule a tennis informational meeting for next THURSDAY, Feb 16, on the New York City campus in room 805 of the 41st street building at 4:00pm. All those who are interested are invited.

We hold the potential for a bright future, which will need to be navigated with insight and attention to detail. We will set goals and work together to reach them. Among my goals as head coach, I intend to transform practices to incorporate 21st century coaching techniques and teaching tools. We will bring energy and enthusiasm to every practice and competition. We will develop solutions to overcome challenges as we hold each other accountable for our actions and behaviors as we build a special organization - a Berkeley College tennis family.

Today my journey starts as your coach, celebrating all that you do on the court and in the classroom. It was the former Commissioner of Major League Baseball, Bart Giammatti, who was fond of saying:

"Athletics teaches lessons valuable to the individual by stretching the human spirit in ways that nothing else can."

Tennis is a sport that stretches us even further because it requires a particular strength of character to succeed when the score keeps going back to zero. I look forward to playing a role in your development, and meeting all of you shortly.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Menaker
