Men's tennis team drops Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match to Webb Institute 6-0 in 2018 season opener

The Berkeley College men's tennis team lost its season-opening match on Thursday evening, falling to the Webbies of Webb Institute in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match by a score of 6-0. The match was played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.

Webb Institute started the match with a 3-0 advantage, capturing the No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles flights by default. The Webbies' Dillon Esposito-Kelley defeated Berkeley College's Sebastien Rousseau 10- at No. 2 singles, and it was Webb Institute's Galen Na shutting out the Knights' Nicolas Echavarria 10-0. In the most competitive flight of the day, Webb Institute's Duane Lee outlasted Berkeley standout Johnathan Wilson by a score of 10-6.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, April 7, as Berkeley will travel to Brooklyn, NY to battle Pratt Institute in another Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The contest will take place at the Pratt ARC, with start-time set for 12:00pm.
