The Berkeley College cross country teams resumed their season this past Saturday, as the squads participated in the Bard College Invitational in Annadale-on-Hudson, NY. It was another successful day for both the men's and women's programs – as both genders once again scored – and there were a number of hearty performances for the Knights in the process.

On the men's side, Berkeley College's Anthony Argueta opened plenty of eyes with his finish in the 8K race, as the freshman crossed the finish line 14th overall amongst all student-athletes who were eligible to score. His completion time was 28:02. Newcomer Alfred Andrade finished 77th amongst all scorers as he finished with a time of 33:29. Stanley Jeanty (94th), Aaron Griffith (95th), and Albert Jordan (102nd) rounded out things for the Knights at times of 37:02, 37:03, and 39:29, respectively. Head Coach Adam Rosen gave his thoughts on his male's performances following the meet.

"Running in their first 8K of the season, each of our five freshman showed a tremendous amount of grit and made substantial personal gains," Rosen said. "We have been witnessing many solid performances on the race courses for our runners thus far on the 2016 campaign, and with continued commitment, I expect sky to be the limit for these student-athletes."

Pamela Andrade did a fantastic job for Berkeley College's women's cross country squad, as she was the first Knight to cross the tape in the women's 5K race by completing the course 89th overall at a time of 25:01. 16 seconds later, it was veteran Osmairy Cordero trotting on in at 25:17 (93rd overall). Albertine Nana was the 105th female to finish the race, and she did so with a time of 26:59. Sophomore Amanda Ekornes completing the 5K in 27:46 (108th overall), and Kimberly Fulgencio Matos logged a 111th place finish (30:24). Kimberly Acevedo rounded things out for the Knights by coming in 113th place (30:36). Rosen praised his women's team following the 5K event.

"Led by Pamela Andrade, our women's team gave it everything they had today, and I am very encouraged by their efforts, and their collective passion for running," Rosen said. "Each of our six females today set new personal records. I believe they are going to continue to grow and excel as a team. I'm excited about their potential."

Both cross country teams will continue their seasons on Saturday, October 1, as the Knights will travel to Newburgh, NY to participate in the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational. The women's race starts at 11:00am, and the men's event begins at 11:45am.
