Men's and women's cross country teams put forth valiant efforts at Queensborough College Invitational to start 2017 seasons

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams began their 2017 seasons this past Sunday at the Queensborough College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY. The Knights' men's squad boasted five runners and finished 17th amongst 25 participating schools in the 8K event, while Berkeley's women's group featured two student-athletes in the 5K run, but did not score as team.

For the men, it was returning runner Stanley Jeanty putting forth the strongest performance for the Knights, as he finished 16th overall with a time of 29:53.79. Anthony Argueta was the next Berkeley runner to cross the finish line, as he came in 75th overall at 32:39.27. Rounding out the Knights' finishers on Sunday were Marc Pharoan (104th overall – 34:05.82), Joshua Williams (140th overall - 36:09.79), and Albert Jordan (176th overall – 39:56.08).

On the women's side for Berkeley, the Knights' two participants were newcomers Andrea Gil and Melissa Ramirez. Gil came in 150th overall, crossing the finish line at 29:59.50, while Ramirez placed 163rd, finishing at 31.25.10.

The Knights will continue their season on Saturday, as Berkeley College heads to Annadale-on-Hudson, NY to participate in the Bard College Invitational. Start-time for the women's race is 11:00am, while the men's run begins at 11:45am.
