The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its cross country award winners for 2018 on Tuesday afternoon, and Berkeley College had a number of its student-athletes earn recognition. On the men's side for the Knights, Julio Sanchez capped his tremendous season by being tabbed as the league's Rookie of the Year. Additionally, it was Shi'yem Lennon achieving the accolade of All-Conference runner. For Berkeley College's women's team, Jasmine Boone was named an All-Conference standout. Following the announcement of the awards, Head Coach Michael Lincoln gave his thoughts.

"Julio, Shi'yem, and Jasmine all have tremendous work ethics, and they are all very deserving of the honors that were bestowed upon them earlier this afternoon," Lincoln said. "Julio was mostly a hurdler and a 400-Meter runner in High School, but he made the transition to college distance running beautifully. He finished first in two of our six races, and in second place in the other four. Shi'yem was our top runner at four of our six meets. He excelled this season with a combination of speed and endurance and with some seasoning, he will be even better next year. And as for Jasmine, she exploded onto the scene this past season. She loves to compete. I am very proud of the three aforementioned student-athletes.

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2019 seasons in mid-September.
