Men's and women's cross country teams showcase talents at Highlander Cross Country Challenge at Branch Brook Park

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams continued their 2019 seasons on Saturday morning, competing in the Highlander Cross Country Challenge at Branch Brook Park. On the men's side, the Knights finished in 29th place out of 31 competing NCAA Division II and III institutions in the 8K run. Berkeley's female squad put forth a hearty effort, finishing 26th out of 29 teams in the women's 5K event.

On the men's side for the Knights, Berkeley College was led by Julio Sanchez, as he crossed the finished line at 33:17, a time good for 190th place overall. The next Knight to finish was Adrian Sadjak, as he completed the 8K event in 28:28, a time that placed him 198th overall. Jeremy Jimenez took 246th place by finishing the course in 37:42, and rounding out the Berkeley male finishers were Carlos Lopez (40:08, 261st place), and Jose Morales (40:42, 262nd place).

For Berkeley College's women's team in the 5K event, Monica Hayes was the first runner to cross the tape, as she finished the course in 25:21 (192nd overall). Marcella Vilencia came in 206th place amongst all competitors when she dashed across the finish line at 26:11. Andrea Gil was 207th overall at a time of 26:13. Rounding out the female runners for Berkeley were Ashley Kulsea (27:45, 221st place), and Nyesha Clements (30:11, 238th place).

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, October 12, as the teams will participate in the Desales University Invitational. The meets begin at 10:30am.
