Kiana Martinez earns HVIAC Player of the Week honor following solid performances against King's (NY) and Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, December 2 through Sunday, December 8, and the Berkeley College women's basketball team was represented by Kaina Martinez, as the versatile guard was tabbed the conference's Player of the Week.

The junior sharpshooter earned the top HVIAC Honor of the Week thanks to her two solid performances last week for the Knights. In Berkeley's 63-52 victory over the Lions of King's College (NY) this past Wednesday, she scored 19 points, registered seven assists, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded five steals. Four days later in the Knights 81-75 defeat to USCAA Division I institution Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, she netted 17 points, collected seven assists, snatched seven boards, and added three steals.

Martinez, who has played in all seven of Berkeley College's games thus far this season, leads the team with an average of 13.9 points per evening. She is also tallying 5.9 assists per night, which is also a team high.

Berkeley will return to the court on December 18, as the Knights will host the Warriors of Vaughn College in an HVIAC contest. The game will take place at the Borough of Manhattan Community College, with a start-time of 6:30pm.
