Knights drop games to Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse
The Berkeley College women's basketball teams dropped a pair of games last weekend, falling to Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo 93-44 at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium (2/11), before falling to Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse a day later by a score of 68-37 (2/12). With the defeats, the Knights dipped to a mark of 4-21 on the 2022-2023 campaign. Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo improved to 20-3 with the victory, while Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse improved to 2-14.
 
In the Knights' loss against Bryant & Stratton Buffalo, Berkeley was paced by senior Amal Mahmoud, as she scored a team-high 21 points while grabbing 10 rebounds, swiping a game-high six steals, and dishing a team-high four assists. Zanya Henderson nearly registered a double-double, as she scored nine points while collecting 13 rebounds.
 
Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo was led by the stellar performance of Kat Kanhoye, as she connected on 12 of her 29 attempts from the floor to finish with a game-high 28 points. She also collected eight rebounds, led all players in assists with six, and swiped a team-high four steals. Chy Isom posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 caroms, and Shannon Bandoo added 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.
 
Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo dominated in all facets of this one, shooting 47 percent from the floor (39-83) while the Knights connected on just 17 of their 65 attempts (26.2 percent). The visitors also held healthy edges in the rebounding category (56-43), as well as the assists column (17-6). Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo also won the turnover battle, committing 16 miscues, while Berkeley had 19.
 
In the Knights' loss at Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, Beulah Dixon Blake led all Berkeley players with nine points. She also grabbed four rebounds, as well. Mahmoud contributed eight points, a team-high 11 rebounds, and a game-high seven steals, and Henderson and Shania Smith added eight points apiece.
 
For Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, Magnama Traore put forth a phenomenal effort, as she scored a game-high 28 points while snatching 14 rebounds, and swatting a game-high three blocks. Shania Lewis scored 15 points while leading all players in rebounds with 15 and assists with nine, and Jaisy Soto netted 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dropped three times. 
 
Neither squad shot particularly well from the floor, with Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse hitting on just 37.8 percent of their attempts (28-74), and the Knights hitting just 15 of their 74 shots (20.3 percent). The hosts snatched 63 rebounds compared to 40 for Berkeley, and Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse registered 15 assists compared to seven for the Knights. Berkeley did win the turnover battle, committing 22 miscues, while the hosts had 25.
 
Berkeley will return to the court tomorrow to play their regular season finale, as the Knights will host Washington Adventist University at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium (2:00pm). Prior to the contest, the Berkeley College Department of Athletics, and the women's basketball program will honor two seniors from this year's team (Mahmoud and Brittanny Mitchell), and two-year member of the program, Kaina Martinez, who played for the Knights during the 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 campaigns, but didn't get to enjoy a Senior Day last season.
