Knights overmatched by Royals on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, VA

The Berkeley College women's basketball team dropped a road game on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Royals of Regent University by a score of 96-56 at Bayside Baptist Church in Newport News, VA. With the defeat, the Knights slipped to a mark of 7-10 on the 2023-2024 campaign, while Regent improved to a record of 6-13.

Za'Nya Henderson led the way for the Knights, as she posted a double-double with team-highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Trinity Sierra scored 11 points while snatching three boards, and Kanijah Jacobs contributed 10 points and a team-high three assists.

Kali Murrell led the way, connecting on eight of her 12 attempts from the floor, including seven out of her nine launches from downtown, and all four of her free throw attempts, to finish with a game-high 27 points. She also added five rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists. Jabarria Brown scored 20 points, dished a game-high six assists, snatched five boards, and led all players with four steals, and Kaila Murrell scored 13 points, collected a game-high 15 rebounds, dropped five dimes, and tallied three steals. Layla Turner (12 points), Courtney Rowley (10 points), and Nevaeh Cross (10 points) all scored in double figures, as well.

Regent University earned a conversion rate of 51.5 percent for the afternoon, hitting on 35 of its 68 shots from the floor. The Knights hit on 22 of their 58 attempts (37.9 percent). The Royals held a 35-26 edge on the glass, while also dishing a whopping 23 assists to Berkeley's seven. Regent also won the turnover battle, committing 15 miscues, while the Knights finished with 24.

Berkeley College will return to the court on Wednesday evening, as the Knights will travel to the Huskies' Health and Athletic Center in Pottersville, NY to battle HVIAC foe Word of Life. Start-time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
