Keisy Villanueva's dominance (35 points) leads Berkeley to 66-36 win over Pratt Institute

The Berkeley College women's basketball team won its second consecutive game on Sunday afternoon, dominating the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute by a score of 66-36. The game took place at the Pratt ARC in Brooklyn, NY. With the victory, the Knights improved to a mark of 9-10 on the 2023-2024 campaign, while the Cannoneers dipped to a record of 0-16.

In the victory for the Knights, standout Keisy Villanueva put together an outstanding performance, posting game-highs of 35 points (15-26 FG), 23 rebounds, seven blocked shots, and six steals. Jordan Washington added 12 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals, and Ally Cuff scored six points, snatched 14 boards, dished a game-high seven assists, and tallied two steals.

Despite the loss for the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute, senior Kylie Granted finished with a team-high 16 points while tying for team-highs of seven rebounds and three steals. In addition, Olivia Julich contributed seven points and seven rebounds.

The Knights led the game from start to finish, outscoring the Cannoneers 14-4 in the opening quarter, and scoring 20 points in the second prior to Pratt's 11. At the half, Berkeley College held a commanding 34-15 edge.

In the third quarter, the Knights outscored the Cannoneers 19-6, and led by as many as 35 points in the fourth before going on to win the game convincingly by 30.

Berkeley College was the far more efficient team shooting the basketball, connecting on 37.5 percent of its attempts from the floor (27-72). On the flip side, Pratt earned a conversion rate of just 21.7 percent (13-60). The Knights dominated the glass, snatching 65 rebounds compared to 32 for the hosts, and Berkeley also dished 15 assists while the Cannoneers finished with nine.

The Knights will return to action this weekend, as Berkeley will take on the University of Maine at Augusta (6pm) on Friday in Auburn, Maine, before turning around the following day and taking on Central Maine Community College (1pm).
