York College uses three goals in the second session to upend Knights, 3-0 at Aviator Field

The Berkeley College New York women's soccer team dropped their second consecutive game to start the 2014 season, falling to the York College Cardinals in non-conference action by a score of 3-0 at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the win, York upped its record to 2-7 on the season, while the Knights fell to 0-2.

After neither team was able to erase the zeroes on the scoreboard in the opening half, York College's Estefany Delgado scored three goals in the second session. Delgado put York on the board in the 51st minute on a breakaway to make it 1-0.  Later - in the 68th minute - she collected a thrown-in pass from Jessica Cornejo and buried the ball past Berkeley College netminder Briana Ortega to increase her team's edge to two goals. Delgado then capped off her evening by scoring on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

The Cardinals dominated the contest offensively, out-shooting the Knights by a count of 34-15. York College netminder Sarah Hilaire made six saves and earned a shutout, while Berkeley's Briana Ortega made a whopping 20 saves despite allowing three goals.

Berkeley College will return to action on Thursday, October 16, as Berkeley will take to the road to battle Albany College of Pharmacy in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. Start-time for that game is scheduled for 4:00pm.
