Women's soccer team blitzed by Mighty Oaks as SUNY ESF records 7-0 victory in HVIAC contest

The Berkeley College women's soccer team is still searching for its first victory after the team was defeated by the Mighty Oaks of SUNY ESF by a score of 7-0 in a Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. With the loss, the Knights dipped to 0-2 on the year (0-1 HVIAC), while SUNY ESF improved its record to 8-1-1 (2-1 HVIAC).

SUNY ESF got seven goals by six different players in the opening session. The goal scorers included Lauren Archer, Jessie Smith, Natalee Wrege, Heather Carl (a pair of tallies), Sarah Lundy, and Megan Steward.  Mighty Oaks goaltender Kiki Hilmer faced and stopped just one shot in recording a shutout. Following the defeat, Berkeley College Head Coach John Guagliardo gave his thoughts.

"Obviously, this is a work in progress, and today was a learning experience for all of the members of this team," Guagliardo said. "SUNY ESF is a talented team in our conference, and our goal is to continue improve so that we can be better suited to compete with them in the future. We'll look to shake this one off before taking on King's College on Wednesday evening."

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday night, as Berkeley will face the Lions of King's College at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, NY, in another Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest. Start-time is scheduled for 6:30pm.
