Women's soccer team drops season finale, falling to Yeshiva University in North Arlington, NJ

The Berkeley College women's soccer team dropped its final match of 2015 on Wednesday evening, falling to the Yeshiva University Maccabees by a score of 12-0 in a contest played at Riverside County Park South in North Arlington, NJ. With the defeat, the Knights finalized their season at 0-6, while Yeshiva improved its record to 2-11.

Yeshiva University set the tone for the evening early when Merav Saden Barach received a beautiful lead pass from Jennifer Shamsian and blasted the ball into the net at 3:45 to give her team a 1-0 advantage. Later – at the 18:46 mark – Barach struck again, blasting a ball off the hands of Knights netminder Emilia Ohrberg and into the net to make it 2-0 in favor the Maccabees. Yeshiva would notch three more goals in the opening session – one apiece from Shamsian (unassisted at 21:13), Natasha Bassalian (unassisted at 24:27) and Kinneret Braun (from Shamsian) at 41:16. At the half, the Maccabees led the Knights by a score of 5-0.

In the second session, Yeshiva continued to produce offense, as just 3:21 into the period, Bassalian netted an unassisted goal to push the Maccabees' lead to six goals at 6-0. Later – at 58:28 – Barach would score her third goal of the evening to put Yeshiva in front 7-0. The Maccabees would tack on five more goals (two from Temima Kanarfogel, and one apiece from Erin Potasnick, Rita Gordon, and Sophia Blumen) to account for the 12-0 final score.

The Maccabees out-shot the Knights by a count of 36-7, while also attempting five corner kicks compared to one for Berkeley. Ohrberg stopped eight shots for the Knights in goal, while Yeshiva University's Annie Jaffe made three saves in recording a shutout.
