The Berkeley College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Misericordia on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Cougars by a score of 8-1 in a contest played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. With the loss, the Knights slipped to 0-3 on the season, while the Cougars improved their record to 4-0 on the year.

Misericordia took control of the match during doubles play, as the Cougars captured all three doubles flights. In a very competitive No. 1 flight, it was Misericordia's combination of Samantha Kropa and Carly Young outlasting the Knights' duo of Fanny Harling and Paulina Pettersson by a score of 8-4. The Cougars' pair of Taylor Daton and Courtney Portaro had no problem winning the No. 2 doubles flight, as they silenced Berkeley's team of Aileen Garcia and Veruzca Scavo, 8-0. Misericordia won the No. 3 doubles flight by default.

When play switched over to singles, the Cougars nailed-down five of the six flights to account for the 8-1 final score. Berkeley College did pick up a very impressive win at the No. 1 flight, as Harling defeated Allison Mattucci, 6-1, 7-6. Linsey Parks defeated Pettersson 6-0, (retired). Pettersson suffered an injury during the singles flight and was unable to continue. At No. 3 singles, it was the Cougars' Amberlynn Habich turning away Scavo, 6-0, 6-0, and Misericordia's Cali Craig beat Garcia, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. The Cougars won the No's 5 and 6 flights by default.

Berkeley College will look to solidify its first victory on Thursday, October 12, as the Knights will take on the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute. The match will take place at the Pratt ARC, with match-time set for 7:30pm.
