Cross Country teams dominate HVIAC awards; Julissa Osorio tabbed as female Runner of the Week, and Shi'eym Lennon earns male Rookie of the Week honor

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, September 17 through Sunday, September 23, and Berkeley College's cross country teams were well represented. On the women's side, Julissa Osorio was tabbed as the conference's Runner of the Week, and on the men's side, Shi'eym Lennon earned Rookie of the Week recognition.

Osorio earned the conference's top honor this week by putting forth a hearty effort at the Bard Raptors Invitational this past Saturday, finishing in 67th place in a field of 137 runners in the 6K meet. She crossed the tape in 30:11. It was the second consecutive strong performance turned in by the freshman, who was also the team's top finisher in the Queensborough Invitational the week prior.

For the Knights' men's team – Lennon earned the conference's Rookie of the Week honor thanks to a great performance at the Bard Raptors Invitational. In the 8K race, the John F. Kennedy High School product placed 50th in a field of 145 runners, crossing the finish line at 32:02.

The cross country teams will return to action on Sunday, September 30, as the teams will compete in the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome. The women's race will begin at 11:00am, followed by the men's dash at 12:00pm.
