Men's and women's cross country teams compete at Caldwell Cougar Chase; Student-athletes put forth valiant efforts

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Caldwell Cougar Chase on the campus of Caldwell University yesterday. The men put forth some strong performances, earning them a second place finish as a team, while the women, despite not scoring, continued to show improvement.

On the men's side, the Knights finished in second place out of three competing institutions in the 8K race. Shi'eym Lennon finished second overall on the day, crossing the tape at 31:08, while Julio Sanchez claimed fifth place amongst all scoring runners by finalizing the course at 32:13. Rounding out the other Berkeley College finishers included Sean Smith (34:42, ninth place), Jeremy Jimenez (36:09, 13th place), and Albert Jordan (39:06, 15th place).

Caldwell University won the men's meet, with Berkeley College finishing in second place, following by Centenary (NJ).

On the women's side, Berkeley College did not score as a team, but Delilah Glasper, in her first season with the Knights, continued to showcase herself as a very strong runner. She finished 37th overall by finishing the women's 5K meet in 24:44. Jasmine Boone was the next Knight runner to finish, as she came in 41st overall at 25:28. The other Berkeley finishers were Melissa Ramirez (47th overall, 28:03), and Jessica Trinidad (51st overall, 30:52).

Montclair State University claimed victory in the women's meet, followed by Hunter College and FDU-Florham.

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams will continue their seasons on Saturday, as the teams will compete in the Hudson Valley Sportsdome Invitational. The men's race will begin at 11:30am, followed by the women's meet at 12:30pm.
