Three Berkeley College student-athletes tabbed to Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honor Roll list

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, September 28 through Sunday, October 4, and Berkeley College's Department of Athletics had three of its student-athletes tabbed to the conference's Honor Roll list. Those student-athletes included Kengo Sato of the New York men's soccer team, Majustice Wilson of the New York men's cross country team, and Nelchiarde Sylvain of the New York women's cross country team.

Sato – a first-year men's soccer player at Berkeley, has excelled at the midfielder position for the Knights this season. He earned a spot on the Honor Roll list this week following his performance this past Saturday evening when he scored the Knights' lone goal in Berkeley's 2-1 defeat at the hands of SUNY Canton. Sato has recorded three goals and a pair of assists in nine games played during the 2015 campaign, and is currently tied for fourth on the Knights in total points with eight. Head Coach Stavros Zomopoulos believes Kengo can be a difference-maker for his club.

"Kengo is a hard worker who is committed and focused, and his efforts have proved those aforementioned senitments," Zomopoulos said. "He has continued to improve as the season has progressed, learning our system and excelling in our system. We feel he can be a major contributor down the stretch for us."

Berkeley College's New York men's soccer team returns to action Wednesday afternoon as the team takes to the road to battle SUNY Maritime in Thorggs Neck, NY. Start-time for that match is scheduled for 4:00pm.

Majustice Wilson and Nelchiarde Sylvain of Berkeley College's cross country teams each put forth hearty efforts this past Saturday at the Highlander XC Classic hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. Wilson was the Knights' top finisher in the men's 8K race, crossing the tape at 36:22. Sylvain clocked in at 31:18 in the women's 5K competition, making her the first Berkeley College runner to finish for the day. Head Coach Adam Rosen spoke highly of both Wilson and Sylvain.

"Majustice and Nelchiarde have done great jobs of setting examples for their teammates this season, and their dedication speaks volumes about the character they have," Rosen said. "I'm very impressed by both of their outputs during this 2015 campaign, and I know they'll both finish strong."

Berkeley College's New York men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Sunday, as the teams will participate in the CCNY XC Classic at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's meet gets underway at 10:00am, with the men's race following at 11:00am.
