New Jersey men's soccer team rallies from late one goal deficit to top Albany College of Pharmacy 4-3 in thrilling match Thursday evening

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team improved to a mark of 6-2 in the month of October, and 7-9 overall, by defeating the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy by a score of 4-3 in a thrilling match played in Albany, NY on Thursday evening. With the loss, the Panthers slipped to 5-8 on the season.

Marcos Hidalgo's goal 6:38 into the match (assisted by Carlos Goncalves) gave the Knights an early 1-0 advantage. Later in the opening session, at 21:29, Albany's Noah Keith notched an unassisted goal to even the match at one goal apiece. Berkeley would retake the lead when Hidalgo would record his second goal of the match, this time from Kyle Santos, at 30:54. That would be the final goal scored by either team in the opening 45 minutes, as the Knights took a slim lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Frank Cassano would score an unassisted goal for the Panthers to tie the game at two-all. Albany's Keith would find the back of the net again at 73:14 (from Austin Myers) to give the Panthers their first lead of the match at 3-2. Berkeley, however, would tie the match just 1:29 later (at 74:43), when a ball deflected off of Robins Etienne and into the net to tie the match at three apiece. The Knights' Christopher Azevedo would score on a penalty kick at 85:28, and that goal would turn out to be the game winner for Berkeley.

The Knights won the game despite getting out-shot 22-15.

Robert Parker made 11 saves on the evening for the Knights, including nine in the second half in what was a stellar effort for the Berkeley veteran.

Berkeley will return to action on Saturday, as the Knights will play their final home match of the 2018 season, as they will take on Christendom at the College of Staten Island.  Start-time for the match is scheduled for 1:30pm. Prior to the game, the Berkeley College Department of Athletics will honor five graduating seniors in a heartfelt ceremony. The seniors that will be honored include Robert Parker, Thomas Gerbasio, Mathew Agudelo, Kevin Soares, and Wender Lima.
